After telling us that drilling for oil offshore would be an
environmental disaster, the Democrats are now saying they would
approve of such drilling, if the US Govt owned land and the oil to
sell it. Why is this a requirement? Think about it. If drilling for
oil is a disaster for the environment, why would government owned oil
be less of a disaster? If the oil companies are robbing Americans at
the pump, why would the US Government profiting from that oil be a
good thing?

Once again Kennie not only gets the facts wrong, but shows a lack of logic
in his presentation.
The truth is that offshore drilling is in fact going on in much of the
western Gulf of Mexico, and the oil companies hold leases on more
oil-bearing land in the Gulf.
Democrats have no problems with he oil companies drilling on these lands.
\But repuglicons, McCain, and Bush for some unknown and unknowable reason do
not want the oil companies to drill on these lands.
Instead they want to open up lands off the coast of Washington, Californian,
Florida, in both the eastern gulf and Atlantic coasts, and off the coast of
North Carolina.
Until now Both California and Florida themselves have forbidden drilling in
these waters. California , with about half of the estimated reserves in
these areas, will not approve drilling, according to their republican
governor.
Crist, governor of Florida has flip flopped on his position and now says he
for drilling, having been against it. It is not a slam dunk that the
legislature will approve drilling. Speculation for the change of heart is
his campaign to become McCain's vice presidential candidate.
So the numbers make the repuglicon hypocrisy perfectly clear.
In lands already leased, according the EIA, about 40 billion barrels of oil
are estimated to be available with 7billion proven.
Excluding California there are a projected 8 billion barrels available, none
proven.
Even more damning forthe repuglicon case, the EIA expects these offshore
water to have no significant effect on or prices or supplies when they come
on line after 2020, at least 5 years after he already proven reserves in the
leased portions of the Gulf could come on line.

Ahh...so it's the Republicans that have been protesting drilling for
environmental reasons? Or, are you going to revise history and
suggest no one has been doing such protests? You're not very good

---
Once agi Kennie misinterprets what I wrote, twists my words to fit into his
fantasy, and then replies with nonsense.
I sadi nothing like that.
I said that the repugilcon --- and your protestations --- about democratic
oppostition to drilling in the proscribed areas is based on lies, ignorance,
and politics --- mostly ignorance onyour part.
I said that in areas laready leased to the oil companies theer are 7 billion
barrels of proven oil reserves with 33 billionestimated in unproven areas vs
8 billion accessible in the other areas, none proven.
I said thatthe 7 billion barrels already leased can be drilled tomorrow
because --- duh --- they have already been proven and mapped.
I said that the "disputed" areas are, according to the EIA (you know hwo
they are?) are at eleast 5 years out from drilling because they must forst
be mapped and test drill dug to prove the reserves.
I said the whole controversy is being played out to sucker
uniformed, illogicval fools like you into thinking that there is an issue
where there really isn;t one.
Now, let me recap.
Democrats are pushing for drilling known, proven, mapped reserves available
now and can use existing infrastructure to help production.
Repuglicons are puhing for --- and McCain wants to gve federal subsidies
for --- drilling in unknown, unmapped, unproven reserves that will take 5 or
more yeas to prepare, will require another taxapyer subsidy to the oil
comapnies, and will require billions of dollars to build pipelines, ports,
and terminals because none are nearby now.
On the plus sign, this issue also allows people like you to make public
fools fo themselves for the amusement of those of us who can think and read.
